📍 Choose Your Region

Select from three versions designed specifically for Florida’s unique microclimates:

  • North Florida — cooler winters and shorter summers. For the purpose of this guide, North Florida is considered all of Florida North of State Road 40.
  • Central Florida — balanced growing seasons and year-round potential. For the purpose of this guide, Central Florida is considered all of Florida South of State Road 40 and North of State Road 70.
  • South Florida — tropical timing for heat-loving crops. For the purpose of this guide, South Florida is considered all of Florida South of State Road 70.

If you're on the border between North and Central, I recommend North. It is more cautious about avoiding frost in late winter.

If you're on the border between Central and South, I recommend South. It is more cautious about waiting for temperatures to drop before planting cool weather crops in fall.

Choose your region above, and grow with confidence — no more guessing what thrives where you live!

How Seed Starting Is Shown in This Guide

You’ll notice that “Start Seeds” tasks often appear one month before the planting window for a crop. This is intentional. Many Florida crops need to be started early so transplants are ready as soon as planting conditions are right.

While many vegetables can be succession-sown, this guide does not list repeated seed-starting cycles. That choice was made to keep the guide clear, beginner-friendly, and aligned with the timing you’ll see in my videos and other Florida gardening content.

Instead, the guide focuses on the two main seed-starting waves Florida gardeners typically follow:

  • Late summer (fall planting with both warm & cool season crops)

  • Mid-winter (warm-season crops like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant)

This approach keeps planning simple without overwhelming you with extra pages or conflicting timelines.

I always seem to end up missing the window for pre-ordering things like strawberry plants. This guide is going to be a big help letting me to know about the windows for ordering.

I love our planting guide. I’ve learned a lot too. It is fun having the advice of the planting guide rather than the guesswork I have used in the past.
